How do I start my very first post on my new blog? I’ve deleted and rewritten this sentence at least six times now and nothing feels quite right, so I’m just going to take a deep breath and dive in. Isn’t that how all the most fun beginnings happen?
I’m excited you’re here. I’m excited I’m here. I’m excited about sharing a behind-the-scenes look at my life as a writer, as well as updates about what I’m working on, resources and references I’ve found useful (including some I’ve made myself), and content to help inspire, motivate and encourage you on your own creative journey.
If we don’t know each other already, all that exictement is a pretty accurate representation of my approach to life. I might write about the darker side of the human condition and experience, but in my non-fictional existence I’m prone to frequent bouts of wild enthusiasm, passion and joy. I live for connecting with other creative souls and sharing our worlds with each other, whether that’s through art, entertainment, social media or all of the above.
I’ve been blogging since forever, actually since before blogging was even a word. Occupying that strange and mostly invisible space between Generation X and Millennial, I went from a world of no internet to a world of internet when I was sixteen and life opened up for me in the most beautiful way. That experience shaped so much of my worldview and my outlook on work, art and personal connection.
Combining my two favourite forms of creativity – writing and photography – meant that blogging always felt like a natural path for me. The only time in the last *insert large number here* years that I didn’t have a blog was part of the latter half of 2019 when I pulled back on a lot of my online activity to think about what and how I wanted to share while I carved out more space in my life for bigger writing projects. And this is it. Building a new website for my books, short stories and blog has been so much fun and I’m super happy to be able to open its doors to you.
In my next post, I’ll be sharing my own writing journey so far. It would be awesome to see you back here for that, and for my future posts, so I’d love it if you would subscribe! There’s a bit in the sidebar where you can choose to receive notifications of new posts by email. If you’re a WordPress.com user and you’d like to read my posts in your WordPress Reader, you can click the little Follow tab in the bottom right corner of your screen.
Thanks for being here and thanks for reading! If you’d like to say hello, you’re more than welcome to leave a comment. I love hearing from writers, readers, and any other lovely humans who find their way to my little corner of the internet ❤
